Crossroads Bait and Tackle Fish Report > It's On
It's On

Jun 7, 2014

The fishing has picked up dramatically and it's all starting with the bait. We have found mackeral numerous times right outside the mouth of the Merrimac River at the red can or the MR bouy. This has caused the big stripers to show up at the mouth and Joppa. There are still a lot of small schoolies around but your odds of keepers have gone up. Many anglers have been reporting seeing large stripers on the flats however having trouble getting them to bite. When this happens I usually know it's time to start dragging eels at night which I will start doing a lot this week.

I've gotten some tuna reports out at the cove caught on the troll, first good reports I've gotten about fish caught not just spotted. Spreader bars with birds have drawn up a few of these fish.

Groundfishing has started to get better too with more cod and more keepers, The Curl has been the hotspot.

Good Luck
