Happy 4th Fishing

Jul 5, 2014

The bite turned on big time right before the storm hit us, especially right on Joppa. One fisherman caught a 34", 38", and a 41" striper in an hr about 3hrs into the outgoing tide. The storm will definately be pushing a lot of water during the outgoing tide, making the tide faster than normal. Be prepared to use a little more weight while chunking. I got some reports from some fisherman that went out right after the weather broke and said it was bumpy but mack's were thick out at breaking rock.

Ground fishing has been getting better and one angler reeled in a 42lb Cod while jigging over at Old Scantum this week, right off the south edge. There have been some dogfish on Old Scantum and the Cove on some days. This storm might have moved them around though.

Keep an eye out for pogies, I've had multiple sightings those have been a sure way to find some good stripers.
