Great Early Season Fishing

May 12, 2017

The Schoolie Striper action is on fire right now, we went out the other night and caught about 40 little striped bass in about 2 hours throwing soft plastic up in the Merrimac river off Eagle Island. Heard of some small keepers in the Parker river so those should be making their way up through the Plum Island Basin soon and into the flats. The beachfront is the highway for these migrating fish and the ones off the beach are still pretty small but a little better than the stacks of fish in the river. Blood worms are producing a ton of Stripers too.

Haddock fishing is great. Boats are catching their limit on Haddock out at the Curl. They are finding some good pockets of concentrated Haddock out there with fewer forbidden Cod, However there are still plenty of codfish out there.

Flounder has really picked up this week as well, we got some real good reports off the south Jetty in front of Plum Island.

It's looking like the fishing is going to be great this year, come on down to Crossroads Bait and Tackle to make sure your prepared for anything and everything that swims in the salt
