Stripers Are Here

May 12, 2018

Stripers have shown up, earlier this week we heard of some being caught at the Lawrence Damn we had a lot of suspicion that they were hold overs, however this morning I got confirmation from Chris of Manolin charters and John from Parkhurst charters that the fish are in. They caught some micros upriver this morning. Just small stuff for now but the big ones will be right behind them. There have been bursts of mackerel in Boston Harbor hitting sand eels moving their way up the coast. keepers are being caught here and there on the cape and more so in CT. We heard one report of mackerel being caught off Jeffreys ledge by a groundfisherman.
Flounder are being taken up in Rye Harbor and started to move in on Hampton Harbor.
Shad up at Rocks Village Bridge hitting flutter spoons.
Haddock fishing has been very productive out on New Scantum and the NW corner, When you can get away from the extremely abundant yet endangered Cod, I don't know what to say bout that. Some big Cod have left the spawn grounds and mixing in with the haddock.
