Crossroads Bait and Tackle Fish Report > The Sea Shore is Rockin
The Sea Shore is Rockin

Jun 30, 2018

The pogies are back. We have had random schools in the Merrimac river and they have shown up consistently on the beach front. Big Bass followed them right up the coast with some 40+ inch stripers starting to show up more frequently. Mackerel are hit or miss, some days the guys are into em heavy and other days they just disappear. Just about everyone is finding a few mackerel to fish with but loading up the coolers is a little slow some days unless you head up to the isle of shoals.
Stripers are spread throughout a lot of places right now and many people are still bringing fresh macks upriver on the other side of Carr Island. We had a good night eeling on Joppa the other night which was the first one we had in a while with a bunch of action and lots of keepers. The mouth is staying active however many days theyre only hitting for a couple hrs of the tide while the rest of the time is a waiting game.

Most of the Shark Action has been porbeagles. They tend to like a colder water than the other sharks(blue dogs/makos.etc) so not surprising they are hitting, however this hot weather streak will probably change that for us leading into July.

There have been a few Bluefins Stuck being sold by the stick boats but they have not even started to dent the quota and only a couple rod and reel fish hitting the docks however sightings and fisherman effort is increasing so we will probably start seeing a lot more Giants hitting the dock.
