The difference in strike angle between a 26 inch wheel and a 29-inch wheel (over the wooden block) is only approximately 5%, but rolling up and over a 5-% steeper angle thousands of times every mile has a significant cumulative effect. The 29-inch wheel's bigger diameter significantly reduces rolling resistance. Compared to the conventional 26-inch wheel, the larger 29-inch wheel had less difficulty rolling over big obstructions.
