Modaheal 200 contains modafinil, a wakefulness-promoting drug used to treat daytime drowsiness caused by narcolepsy, OSA, and shift work sleep disorder. Modaheal 200mg may reduce daytime drowsiness in OSA patients, however it is not a first-line therapy. CPAP, oral appliances, or surgery are the main treatments for obstructive sleep apnea. Prevention of airway blockage and appropriate oxygen levels during sleep reduce the frequency and severity of obstructive sleep apnea breathing pauses. Modaheal 200 may be prescribed off-label to improve wakefulness and cognitive function in obstructive sleep apnea patients, but only under medical supervision and as part of a customized treatment plan.
