Using theoretical frameworks to direct your research is a necessary part of writing a dissertation. Choose a theory that is pertinent to your subject first; this will help you organize your research. The theory you choose should support your research questions, explain phenomena, and defend methods. Next, evaluate the body of existing research critically to find any gaps that the theory can fill. Create propositions or hypotheses using the theoretical framework. Make sure the theory is applied consistently in your analysis and discussion throughout your dissertation. Reflect on how the theoretical understandings influenced your conclusions and their ramifications for further study as you wrap up. A well-executed theory enhances your dissertation's impact and legitimacy.
