Kristena Prater is an author, artist, and activist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her creative journey began at the age of eleven with poetry and has since expanded into various forms of storytelling, including her debut novel, Tessa: Eyes on the World. This novel, co-authored with Salodius Byrd, draws inspiration from real-life experiences and follows the transformative journey of a young woman named Tessa. Raised in an unconventional family, Tessa dreams of traveling to India and Nepal for spiritual enlightenment. However, her plans are altered when her brother suffers a life-changing injury, leading her to confront issues such as human trafficking, cultural marginalization, and environmental degradation. Tessa's experiences inspire her to join the Peace Corps, reflecting themes of personal growth, activism, and the human spirit.
