I've been playing Wordle regularly and while it’s fun, I feel like I’m not approaching it strategically. Most people say the first guess is the most important because it sets the tone for your next moves. So I’m wondering — what’s the best starting word you use and why?
I’ve seen a lot of advice floating around about starting with words that have a mix of common vowels and consonants (like “slate,” “crane,” or “adieu”), but there doesn’t seem to be one perfect answer. Some players even rotate their starting words based on vowel distribution or letter frequency.
I came across this incredibly useful 5 letter words list that’s been helping me find new words to try. It’s really comprehensive and searchable, which makes it easier to explore different combinations. I also check the Wordle Answer daily just to learn from past puzzles and patterns.
So here’s what I’d love to know from fellow players:
What’s your go-to starting word?
Do you stick with the same one every day, or rotate?
Do you prioritize vowels, consonants, or uncommon letters?
Have any unusual words helped you win in fewer guesses?
If anyone else uses word lists or answer archives to inform their strategy, I’d love to hear how you’re using them to improve your game.
