Yes. Travelers with a French passport need a valid visa to enter Bahrain. BAHRAIN VISA FOR FRENCH There are two main ways to obtain one:

Apply for a Bahrain eVisa online before traveling

Get a Visa on Arrival (VOA) when landing in Bahrain

Both options are available to French citizens and are suitable for short visits, such as tourism or business.

French travelers can choose from several visa types depending on the purpose and duration of their stay:

14-day single-entry visa

30-day multiple-entry visa (valid for up to 3 months)

90-day multiple-entry visa (valid for 1 year, allowing repeated visits of up to 90 days each)

Once approved, your eVisa must be used within 3 months from the date of issue.

Short stay (14 days): approx. 30 EUR

Medium-term (30 days): approx. 75 EUR

Long stay (90 days, multiple entries): from 44 BHD (around 110 USD)

Processing time is generally 3 to 5 business days.

Visa on Arrival (VOA) in Bahrain

French citizens are eligible to obtain a visa directly at the airport or land border:

14-day visa: BD 5 (~USD 13)

30-day visa: BD 12

90-day visa: Also available on arrival

This is ideal for last-minute travelers or those crossing the King Fahd Causeway from Saudi Arabia.

Required Documents

When applying for either eVisa or VOA, ensure you have the following:

Passport valid for at least 6 months

Round-trip flight booking

Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host’s CPR ID)

Recent bank statement (showing at least BD 300 or USD 800–1,000)

For eVisa: a printed copy of the approval is required upon entry

Entry Rules and Limitations

You cannot work or study with these visas

eVisas must be applied for outside Bahrain

Immigration may request proof of sufficient funds and return travel

Overstaying a visa can lead to fines or removal from the country

Yes. Tourist visas—whether issued online or on arrival—can be extended once or twice through Bahrain’s NPRA (Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs), up to a total stay of 90 days.
