We spent a week at the St Kitts Marriott Resort and royal x casino Beach casino and it was a lovely stay.

Of course there are always small issues but I will deal with them through the review.

This Marriott hotel is a great place to stay, it is near the capital Basseterre but just far enough away. It is on the Atlantic coast so the sea is just a bit colder with more waves but still great swimming and the warmer Gulf beaches are about a 12 minute walk away so you have the best of both worlds available.

For price comparison for a 5 night stay on various days in April you would pay from $225 per night.

We flew on an A321 which was not full so there were not a great amount of passengers and speed through the airport was fine.

The best part of this day was being picked up by Lynn who owns Lynn’s Taxi and Tours. Lynn is wonderful, has a sparkling personality, knows what is happening around the island and will advise you on what to do and when to do it.

On checking in at the hotel I got the feeling that my Marriott Platinum status did not mean much at this hotel.

We were given a room facing the island, not the sea, and it was on the left side of the hotel above the restaurant/bar which has live music most evenings which can be rather disturbing.

The room is pleasant as Marriott rooms go, nothing exuberant but sufficient for our holiday needs. Two double beds and nice walking space at the foot of the beds helps.

This couch is also comfy. It was very nice to have 2 different comfy sitting units.

There is a reasonably sized fridge below the shelf and then a safe, ironing board and iron, luggage rack and clothes rack in the cupboard.

The shower is in the bath. For a week long stay at a holiday resort I would think a proper shower would be required. Toilet and bidet are provided.

We were given continental breakfast vouchers which we used on a few mornings. Rather pleasant, you have a choice of 2 dishes with tea, coffee or juice which are brought to you. With a croissant the meal was sufficient for our needs. If you wanted a full help yourself breakfast the cost was about $25 to upgrade.

There is a nice gym available, a pleasant spa, a big pool with a swim up bar, a pool restaurant and an ice cream store near the pool.

There is also a fancy steak house, the restaurant/bar with the loud music, and a coffee bar and bakery which is open 24 hours.

Of course the casino is also available for your entertainment. It is small and has one bar but it can be fun.

The best part of this area was the takeout pizza place. The pizza’s here are amazing. They have been written about on other travel sites so it was great to be able to experience them ourselves. It is open into the night so we had pizza from there for dinner on 2 different evenings. Highly recommended.

The beach is cleaned every night and the deck chairs are rearranged neatly. Early in the morning the tractor scours any seaweed from the shore. There can sometimes be a lot of seaweed washed up so it is nice that they take care of it.

There are a lot of cabanas on the beach which each have a table and 4 deck chairs. Depending on the day you have to get there between 8h30 and 9h30 to make sure of getting one. When there are cruise ships in harbor the cabanas are in short supply as there are hundreds of passengers who come to the hotel for the day to lie on the beach and swim in the pool and the sea.

I will have to do a whole separate review on the hotel and island facilities and places to see.

Our stay at the St Kitts Marriott resort was rather great. There are many facilities that you can use to vary your experience, and so many different food options that you cannot go wrong trying a different place each night. The hotel room was fine for our stay. I stayed here once 12 years ago and had a similar experience so I guess the hotel rooms don’t change much.
