Vilitra improves erectile function by enhancing the natural blood flow response that occurs during sexual arousal.
When a man is sexually stimulated, the brain and nerves release nitric oxide (NO) in the penile tissue. Nitric oxide activates an enzyme called guanylate cyclase, which increases levels of a chemical messenger called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP relaxes the smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis, allowing more blood to flow in and produce an erection.
Normally, another Vilitra called PDE5 breaks down cGMP, which causes the erection to subside. Vilitra contains vardenafil, a PDE5 inhibitor. It blocks this enzyme, slowing the breakdown of cGMP. As a result, cGMP stays active longer, blood vessels remain relaxed for a longer period, and blood flow into the penis is improved and sustained.
This does not create an erection on its own. Sexual arousal is still required to trigger nitric oxide release. Vilitra simply strengthens and prolongs the body’s natural erectile response.
