Cyberfraud 365 Akshay Sharma has warned that Device Code Phishing is a new cyber threat that takes advantage of legitimate authentication methods to gain unauthorized access to user accounts. In this attack, cybercriminals trick victims into entering a device code on a legitimate-looking login page, giving them access to the victim’s email, cloud storage or other online services without their knowledge. Device code phishing attacks are particularly dangerous as they often bypass traditional password theft methods, said cybersecurity expert Akshay Sharma. Attackers trick users into believing the authentication request is legitimate using social engineering techniques, fake emails and fraudulent messages. The best defenses against device code phishing remain cyber awareness and user education. “Understanding how these attacks work can help individuals and organizations greatly reduce the risk of account compromise and data breaches.
