So, I always thought moving within Dubai and needing storage would break the bank. Turns out, not necessarily. My building was doing renovations and I had to vacate for a month between leases. The panic was real.

My main takeaway? Don't just google "storage Dubai" and pick the first ad. Prices and unit sizes vary wildly. I spent an evening on a site that did their comparison of storage companies and it saved me a solid few hundred bucks a month. The difference between a 25 sq ft and a 50 sq ft unit was shocking, and I definitely didn't need the bigger one.

For packing, I used this Bayut guide for general moving tips in the city. It's pretty straightforward. What nobody tells you is the access thing. I went with a cheaper place slightly further out, but then needed an old suitcase and the drive was a pain. Next time, I'll pay a bit more for somewhere closer to my new neighborhood, even if the unit itself is cheaper.

* Get way more boxes and tape than you think.
* Label EVERY box with room and contents.
* Take a photo of the storage unit once it's full for insurance.

It's a hassle, but planning ahead makes it bearable. Honestly, the peace of mind knowing my stuff was secure and dry was worth the cost. Just shop around.
