Hey everyone else, just got in from a short trip to Cabo Polonio and desired to drop my thoughts here since this subscription helped me program a huge amount of my Uruguay trip.
Rapid situation: I'd read blended opinions before you go, some people stating it's a must-do, the others stating it's overhyped. Following actually planning, I believe this will depend greatly on what you're looking for.
The 4x4 experience in through the dunes was seriously one of my favorite parts, didn't assume that to be as fun because it was. But when you're there, a few realistic points caught me down guard:
Number reliable energy in many areas, it's mainly solar-powered
Telephone signal was generally removed the entire time
Absolutely carry more cash than you believe you'll require
Evenings get cold, also although the days thought warm
Sea tigers were extraordinary, far more of these than I expected clustered on the stones near the lighthouse. Watched sunset from up there too, might recommend moment your visit about that should you can.
Food options are travel from Montevideo but simple and good, primarily little areas performing fresh seafood.
Overall get: if you like gradual, unplugged travel , you'll possibly love it. If you want things to accomplish continually, it would feel a touch too calm following the initial day.
Anybody have suggestions for wherever to stay? Curious what others applied because possibilities felt quite confined when I booked.
