If you are flying out of Charlotte and wondering how the check-in process works, it is actually pretty straightforward once you know what to expect. I usually recommend checking in online before heading to the airport if your airline allows it. This can save some time, especially if you are traveling with only a carry-on bag.

If you have checked luggage, you will still need to visit your airline's baggage drop or CLT Check-in
counter. Keep your ID, boarding pass, and travel documents somewhere easy to reach so you are not digging through your bags at the counter.

For a domestic flight, arriving around two hours before departure is a good general guideline. For international travel, giving yourself closer to three hours is a safer option. The airport can get busy during mornings, weekends, holidays, and other peak travel periods.

After check-in and baggage drop, you will need to go through security before heading to your gate. It is a good idea to check the flight information screens after security because gate assignments can sometimes change.
