I am researching MCh vs DrNB and one question I keep coming across is whether there is any meaningful salary difference between the two after completing super-speciality training.
I know that salary can depend heavily on speciality, hospital, location, experience, and clinical workload, but I would like to understand whether the qualification itself makes a noticeable difference.
For example, if two doctors have similar experience and work in the same surgical speciality, would an MCh and DrNB graduate typically receive similar consultant opportunities and compensation?
I am also interested in the first few years after qualification. Does the type of institute or hospital where the training was completed have more impact on starting salary than choosing MCh versus DrNB?
Another factor is long-term earning potential. Does either pathway provide a better route toward private practice, corporate hospital positions, academic jobs, or specialised surgical centres?
I would really appreciate practical feedback from doctors who have completed MCh or DrNB. Information about starting salary, growth after a few years, and factors that influenced your job opportunities would be especially useful.
I am trying to make a career decision based on more than just the qualification name, so real experiences would help.
