Drainage may seem like a small civil-work item until the first heavy rainfall.

Waterlogging and erosion can affect access roads, foundations, cable routes and maintenance activities. Site planning should consider natural drainage paths, surrounding runoff and safe discharge points.

For ground mounted solar projects, a topographical survey and a suitable drainage design can help reduce problems during operation. The land requirement for ground mounted solar should also account for drainage corridors and maintenance access.
