Crossroads Bait and Tackle Fish Report > Striper MAYham
Striper MAYham

May 20, 2012

The Mackeral showed up heavy this week, they were right outside the mouth at the MR bouy, Speckled Apron and Breaking Rock. Live Mackeral were producing some very nice striped bass over the weekend. Most of the keepers were right around 30-36inches out around the mouth and joppa flatts with an occasional big one mixed in. Alot of the 40plus inchers are still up river feeding on the herring run. Up river most guys are fishing with artificials and blood worms. Heavy topwater plugs or Soft Plastics on a jig head are the popular choices right now. We started to see a little increase in the flounder action this week and a few fluke were also caught. Some of the party boat guys reported seeing Tuna at Halfway Hump and out on Jeffries Ledge, I can't wait for the season to open. The groundfishing continues to be very productive for the haddock.
