Crossroads Bait and Tackle Fish Report > Summer Blues
Summer Blues

Jun 25, 2012

Went out for some stripers yesterday afternoon and had a tough time finding bait and the bluefish were in pretty heavy. I Got some reports that the mackeral were out at speckled apron. I didn't get any out there and then moved to Hampton Shoal Ledge and still no luck. Despite recent bad reports I gave breaking rock a try. Finally we found some bait. Came back to the mouth of the Merrimack River and we got a combination of stripers and blues and pulled up a bunch of bait chomped in half by the blue fish. If you like blues put some wired leaders on and chunk or troll, if you want striper just fish through the bluefish. However despite some warm river temps Justin Roussett reported a lot of big stripers hanging our near Badgers Rock and he didn't see any bluefish in the river.

Luis owner of LD Marine went out of Portsmouth yesterday and caught a 550lb Tuna up near Boone Island and I have heard multiple reports of striper guys getting spooled in close to shore at Speckled Apron.
